X-ray mirror telescope of the ''Salyut-4'' station

Creators

Description

A catoptric X-ray telescope installed aboard the Salut-4 orbital station is described. The telescope is intended for an energy range of 0.14-0.28 keV. The X-rays are focused by a 20 cm diameter mirror onto an entry hole of gas-discharge photon counter. Autonomous telescope orientation is made using bright optical stars. Preliminary X-ray source observation results are presented covering the Scorpion lambda, a remnant of a supernova in the Sails and the Rigel flashes
