The sector projection method for CT of the orbit, 3
- 1. Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical Univ. (Japan). Faculty of Medicine
Description
Computerized tomography (CT) of the orbit is usually performed on the basis of various reference lines correspondent to Reid's base line. However, the images of the bony orbit and the orbital contents in the upper and lower slices of the orbit are very poor when seen by this conventional method. A new sector projection method for coping with the particular shape of the orbit is hereby reported. In this paper, comparison is made of the CT images of the conventional method with those of the new sector projection method using 15 clinical cases. The orbital walls and the soft tissue images are excellent when seen by this new method, which is concluded to be useful as the routine display in orbital CT. (author)
