Description
Makrofol was used as a 4π track detector to determine the fission cross sections of Ag, Au, Pb, Bi, Th and U induced by 640 MeV α-particles. The cross sections for Bi, Pb, and Au were larger than those obtained with 100 MeV α-particles or with deuterons or protons of 2100 or 600 MeV, respectively. Kinematical studies show an important fraction of asymmetrical fission (approx. 88%) for Au, Pb, Bi, Th and U. (orig.)
