Description

Graphite limiter surface in tokamaks is exposed to sufficient metallization and due to this becomes a potential source of heavy impurities in plasma. Results of investigation into T-10 tokamak graphite rail limiter metallization are presented. The role of the operating discharge in the tokamak in the formation of metal distribution along the limiter surface was studied. Metal distribution along the limiter surface was studied using mean energy ion backscattering method. The limiter surface was examined immediately after a series of experiments in the tokamak, during which the limiter temperature fields in the operating discharges were measured using IR equipment. This allowed one to set up a relation between metal distribution along the surface and the limiter temperature fields, realized in the operating discharges
