Device for study of switching on process of superfast modulator thyristors

A unit for studying fast response of modulator thyristors is described. The unit operates on the principle of a linear modulator with a full discharge of a storage capacity. A driving oscillator, an amplifier, a high-voltage divider, long lines and a closer are its main elements. Performances of the unit are characterized by the following experimental data: in case of thyristor change-over at 1.5-2 kv voltage and 15-100 A current amplitude, front duration is 10 nsec, pulse duration is 200 nsec, pulse frequency exceeds 2 Kc
