Coordination compounds of titanium(4), zirconium(4) and hafnium(4) with urea

Description

Complexes of titanium, zirconium and hafnium tetrachlorides with urea of 1:1 composition were synthesized, synthesis results of titanium tetrachloride compound of 1:2 composition, described in publications were reproduced. Infrared spectroscopic investigation into prepared complexes was conducted. It was shown that urea is coordinated by means of oxygen atom. Thermochemical investigation into synthesized adducts showed, that compound stability decreases in the series: titanium, hafnium, zirconium. Study of infrared spectra sUpported the assUmption, that only one urea molecule is coordinated with metal in compounds of 1:2 composition, and the second one is secured in the complex probably due to hydrogen bonds
