Effect of torsional excitation on equipment seismic loads
Description
It is the purpose of this study to determine the effect of torsional vibration modes on the seismic response of nuclear power plants. Often it is necessary to design a containment structure which has a center of mass eccentric to it's geometric center. Under these conditions torsional vibration modes are excited from lateral seismic ground motions. Specifically, the problem investigated in this study is to determine the response of a structure internal to the containment vessel as a function of mass eccentricity. (Auth.)
