Potential of multifilamentary Nb3Sn for application to CTR magnets
- 1. Intermagnetics General Corp., Guilderland, NY
Description
Several cabled conductor configurations having critical current ratings in the range of several hundred to several thousand amperes at 10 T suitable for either wind-and-react or react-and-wind magnet construction approaches are described. Overall conductor cross-section current densities approaching 1.5 x 105 amperes per square centimeter at 5 T and 5 x 104 amperes/cm2 at 10 T have been measured in 7-strand external diffusion processed bronze conductors
