Biodiversity of terrestrial fauna in 30 km radius of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project
- 1. Sri Paramakalyani Centre for Excellence in Environmental Sciences, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Alwarkurichi (India)
Description
The thesis attempt to study the faunal diversity of areas in and around emerging nuclear plants viz. Kudankulam Nuclear Plant, using the various habitats around the terrestrial area of 30 km radius surroundings. It was hypothesised that the discharge of nuclear materials may have an adverse impact on the ecology of the terrestrial environment in the vicinity of the plant. Therefore, baseline studies inform us of the prevailing natural environment of Kudankulam Atomic Power Plant area and will also be of help in the future study of the impact of nuclear materials on terrestrial ecosystems
