The trapping of cosmic rays around supernovae by plasma instabilities

  • 1. Princeton Univ., N.J. (USA). Observatory

Description

Cosmic rays escaping from supernova as sources set up hydromagnetic instabilities. These instabilities can trap the cosmic rays inthe neighborhood of the supernova until they are adiabatically decompressed. We will discuss the importance of these instabilities for theories of supernova origin of cosmic rays. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

(orig.)
