125I seed implantation in the treatment of retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis nursing

Description
Objective: To investigate the clinic nursing measures for patients with symptomatic retroperitoneal lymph node metastases who receive CT-guided radioactive 125I seed implantation therapy. Methods: A total of 25 patients were enrolled in this study. The following nursing measures were strictly carried out: preoperative psychological nursing and nutritional support therapy, excellent preparation and coordination as well as monitoring of vital signs during the operation, and proper nursing and management for postoperative pain, fever, hemorrhage and complications. Results: CT-guided radioactive 125I seed implantation was successfully accomplished in all patients. All patients were followed up for 2-30 months. No bleeding or pulmonary embolism occurred. Two patients developed severe pain. Localized red and swollen skin was observed in two patients one week after the treatment, which disappeared after symptomatic treatment. Conclusion: A comprehensive, thoughtful and careful nursing is the key point to ensure a successful CT-guided radioactive 125I seed implantation therapy for symptomatic retroperitoneal lymph node metastases.
