Description

Measurements of the harmonics in the magnetization response of granular high temperature superconductors Bi2Sr2Ca1Cu2Oy, Y1Ba2Cu3O7, Ag-doped Y1Ba2Cu3O7 and TlBa2Ca3Cu4Oy are reported as a function of Hm, the amplitude of the applied AC field in the range 10-2 Oe ≤ Hm ≤ 60 Oe. Detailed comparisons are made between the measurements and the predictions of different models that have been proposed in the literature. Different power law exponents observed earlier by us and by others, as well as some new features reported here are best described by the Kim-Anderson version of the critical state model. (orig.)
