Stainless steel properties after low-temperature rapid deformation

Description
Investigated is the effect of high-speed low-temperature deformation on the 12Kh18N10T and 15Kh18N12S4TYu stainless steel properties. It is found that dynamic deformation at the room temperature does not influence the physico-mechanical properties of the steels. In case of the deformation at -196 deg C in both steels the martensite γ→α transformation takes place, which intensity decreases with the deformation speed increase. The dynamic deformation at -196 deg C, comparing with the static one results in the increase of general elongation and the share of uni-form elongation, that permits to carry out the deformation with higher percentage reduction in area. It provides the ultimate strength values achieved at the static deformation without the ductility deterioration
