Description
With the aim of studying uranyl acetate and sulphate extraction by triiso-octylamine in solution in benzene and xylene, the authors examined the effect of the acidity of the aqueous phase on the extraction yield and found the yield to be dependent on acidity. The concentrations of free amine, sulphate and bisulphate in the organic phase were determined in a sulphuric acid medium. The complexes formed between the amine, the acetic acid and the uranyl acetate at the acid concentration giving maximum yield were found to have the same formulae in the two solvents. The results obtained in a sulphuric acid medium for three experimental groups (solvent, xylene and benzene, H2SO4 = 10-1 N and xylene, H2SO4 = 5 x 10-1 N) indicate a general formula [(R3NH+)2 [UO2(SO4)2]2-], whereas it is difficult at present to interpret the results obtained in a benzene medium at 4 x 10-1 N acidity. The formula is arrived at by varying the partition coefficient as a function of the free amine salt concentration. (author)
Abstract (French)
(author)Additional details
