Description

The Cd-In liquid solutions have been studied by several authors. In the Predel''s investigations it is found a controversial behaviour of the enthalpy and the excess entropy of mixing of cadmium around the stoichiometric concentration xCd=0.75. A compound formulated as Cd3In is observed in the solid state. From the Pradel''s results it seems to be compound appears also in the liquid state. This fact causes that thermodynamic properties of the liquid Cd-In liquid solutions have been investigated. The excess stability function ES, the coefficient of Faber-Ziman and the function of Bhatia-Thornton of the fluctuations are applied in order to clear the presence of intermetallic compounds in these solutions. Thus, 20 compositions of this solutions have been tested. (author)
