Endo oesophageal brachytherapy

Description
Endo-oesophageal brachytherapy became more useful, since high dose rate brachytherapy is available. This technique allowed to treat in situ tumors and also to increase radiation dose to the tumor site for lesions treated by external radiotherapy associated with chemotherapy. Most series together with ours show a trend to increase the local control rate with brachytherapy, but few of them show an impact on survival. Endo-oesophageal brachytherapy requires a very accurate technique to limit the side effects. (author)
