Programs for calculating beam orbits in cyclotron, 1

  • 1. Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, Wako, Saitama (Japan)

Description

In advance of construction of the Riken separated sector cyclotron, several programs to analyse beam orbits have been developed to prepare basic data for the design. Details of two typical programs are described here. The program named EQUIOT is to form an isochronous field by using a measured magnetic field, and to find out equilibrium orbits in the field. Such various physical qualities as coordinates and betatron frequencies to specify the magnet system and the equilibrium orbits are calculated and the isochronous field is offered to subsequent studies. The other named ACCELP gives the information on orbits of accelerated particles and an accelerated-beam behavior in a six-dimensional phase space. (author)
