Preparation and structure of Eu/sup II/Nb4O11
Description
The occurrence of compound in the system was studied by means of x-ray powder diffraction. A compound, EuNb4O11, was found. The x-ray powder diffraction data for EuNb4O11 could be indexed on a tetragonal cell with a = 52.52 A, C = 7.69 A. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility for this compound is expressed by the equation, chi/sub M/ = 7.10/(T + 0.20). This compound is oxidized at about 2900C or above in air.
