Turbine runback study for the Byron D4 steam generator using RETRAN
Description
The reduction of unanticipated reactor trips has been an ongoing effort at Commonwealth Edison. At Byron Station, a particular concern has been the ability of the plant to withstand the loss of a feedwater pump without trip. This paper concerns analytical efforts to quantify and provide recommended plant maneuvers to allow the plant to accommodate the loss of feed pump transient without experiencing a reactor trip. In this paper, the RETRAN computer code is applied to model the loss of a feedwater pump transient. The model is benchmarked against the plant data for an actual event and used to predict performance for additional cases of interest
