Description

There is a necessity for the re-assessment of the danger of jamming accidents which were recorded inside the Co60 industrial irradiator. Jamming happened when product boxes pushed by mechanical pushers, obstruct radiation source rack from lowering inside the storage pool. This leads to harmful effects on irradiation systems, operators and environment. This study suggests a proposed design of moving the mechanical conveyor system that allows shifting the mechanical conveyor, which carries jamming boxes, far away from the two sides of radiation source rack. Analysis were made for the mechanical transport system to calculate the minimum needed force to liberate source rack from jamming and shift the movable mechanical transport system far from the source rack
