Description

There is little information in literature about HFX in carcinoma of the cervix (only two published articles in 1995). This is the study that gave the highest total dose external HFX of 60x1.2=72 Gy in the pelvis. Theoretically through the linear formula this schedule of HFX would be equivalent to STD 30x2 Gy = 60 Gy, both treatments given in 30 working days. These HFX schedules must be tested to establish is safety. Results suggests that tolerance, late effects and survival with HFX used were similar to STD irradiation until now. It seems to be possible to further increase the total dose in the pelvis with HFX. (author)
