Hyperfine displacement of atomic levels excited by internal conversion and the following X-ray cascade
Description
General expressions are obtained for hyperfine energy shifts of the K, L, ... inner shell levels, excited by the internal conversion of arbitrary type and multipolarity (τL) including the mixed one. They may be used to determine the magnetic and electric quadrupole nuclear moments from the measurements of X-ray or conversion electron line displacements. It is shown also that X-ray electromagnetic transitions transfer the information about hyperfine shift from the initial excited level to the next one and so on up to external shells of the atom. This effect gives additional displacements of X-ray lines. Some numerical values are given. (orig.)
