A pulse radiolysis study of the reactivity of Cl2- and Br2- relative to vanadyl ions in aqueous solution

  • 1. Institute of Physical Chemistry, Moscow

Description

The authors measure rate constants of the reactions of vanadium(IV) ions with C12- and Br2- ions by pulse radiolysis in acidic aqueous solution. These rate constants increase with increasing acidity. This effect is attributed to ''equalization'' of the vanadium(IV) and vanadium(V) ion species in strongly acidic media
