Dissociative recombination of molecular ions in a storage ring

Creators

Description

There are local variations between experiments in different storage rings. Some features remain the same independently of where the experiment is performed. Electron cooling is applied for a few up to tens of seconds by merging a beam of cool electrons with the stored ions in one leg of the ring. Ion storage rings offer several advantages for studies of low-energy electron-ion collisions. A first generation of experiments HeH+ was studied. (Suda)
