Magnetohydrodynamics test of a one-sixth scale model of a CTR recirculating lithium blanket
Description
A one-sixth scale model of an element of a recirculating lithium blanket for a fusion reactor is tested experimentally. The model utilizes NaK 44. It is instrumented to measure flow, pressure drop and pumping power as a function of the applied magnetic field (0 to 4 T) and the pump current (0 to 300 amps dc). The flow is measured by an electromagnetic flow meter (the top set of electrodes) and by means of a buoyant capsule whose traverses are detected by the system of coils mounted on the lower part of the right leg of the loop. The pressure is measured by determining the liquid level in the head tanks located above the loop. (U.S.)
