Description

Uranium dioxide, simulated oxide and irradiated oxide of spent nuclear fuel can be completely converted into nitrates in N2O4 medium (75 C. deg., 0.5-3.0 MPa, [UOx]:[H2O]:[NO2]=1:8:6. Uranium can be extracted from the conversion product melt both selectively and simultaneously with plutonium using solutions of DBE (dibutyl ether) and TBP (tributyl phosphate) in compressed Freon 134a.
