Comparison of the role that entropy has played in processes of non-enzymatic and enzymatic catalysis
Description
The function that entropy has played is compared in processes of non-enzymatic and enzymatic catalysis. The processes followed are showed: the kinetics of the acid hydrolysis of 3-pentyl acetate and cyclopentyl acetate catalyzed by hydrochloric acid and enzymatic hydrolysis of ethyl acetate and γ-butyrolactone catalyzed by pig liver esterase. The activation parameters of Eyring were determined for each process and interpreted the contribution of the entropy of activation for catalysis in this type of model reactions. (author)

La funcion que la entropia ha desempenado es compararada en procesos de catalisis enzimatica y no enzimatica. Los procesos seguidos son mostrados: la cinetica de la hidrolisis acida del acetato de 3-pentilo y del acetato de ciclopentilo catalizadas por acido clorhidrico y la hidrolisis enzimatica del acetato de etilo y de la γ-butirolactona catalizadas por esterasa hepatica porcina. Los parametros de activacion de Eyring se han determinado para cada proceso y se ha interpretado la contribucion de la entropia de activacion a la catalisis en este tipo de reacciones modelo.
