Initial shear stress of magnetic fluid in magnetic field

Description

Initial shear stress (τ0) of magnetic fluid in planar channels and forms of chains, restraining magnetic fluid movement, were determined. The problem of magnetic fluid equilibrium in planar channel in the presence of external magnetic field, perpendicular to channel plane, under the effect of pressure differential on channel ends was solved within the framework of magnetic fluid model with structurization. It is shown that fluid equilibrium is possible only in the case, when pressure differential doesn't exceed some limiting value Δpcr. Tangential stress on channel wall is equal at that to the maximal value τ0. Qualitative agreement of experimentally observed dependences of Δpcr and τ0 on field and magnetic phase concentration with obtained results was established
