Stabilisation of oxygen in substituted YBa2Cu3O7-δ

  • 1. Materials Research Centre, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (India)

Description

The compositions in the system YBa2-xLnxCu3O7-δ (Ln = La, Nd, and Gd and x = 0.0 - 1.0) prepared by the solid state method have been investigated for formation and improved superconducting properties. The importance of oxygen stoichiometry on the superconducting properties of 123 phase is widely recognised and an effort has been made to chemically fix the oxygen in the lattice by partially replacing Ba2+ with La3+. The changes in the physical properties of 123 phase due to the stabilisation of oxygen is demonstrated in YBa2-xLaxCu3Cu3 system. Results of acoustic emission measurements, dilatometry TGA and bulk modules measurement carried out are also summarised. (author)
