Description
The nuclear fuel cycle involves various stages right from uranium prospecting, fuel pellet fabrication, reactor loading, to spent fuel inspection and reprocessing. At each stage of the fuel cycle instruments are required for monitoring different parameters with high sensitivity and accuracy. In many of these measurements, in order to avoid possible radiation exposure to personnel, remote measurements are needed. Lasers due to their unique properties serve as a ready tool for non-contact measurement with high precision. At RRCAT we have developed several laser-based instruments to meet the requirements of the different stages of nuclear fuel cycle. In this talk I will provide a brief overview of some of these developments
