Data acquisition system for small to medium size experiments

Description
A flexible distributed data acquisition system, for use in various small to medium scale experiments has been developed. The system can use a variety of standard host computers, among them common workstations UNIX-flavor and VAX-VMS systems, and commercial real time kernels VAXELN, VxWorks and DECElx. The software system includes modules for analysis, run control and list directed read-out functions. Communications between the various processes are done via TCP/IP sockets and/or DECNET. In this contribution the structure of the host and front-end software is explained
