Superpower linear proton accelerator for neutron generator and accelerator-driven system

Description

The perspectives of development of superpower linear proton accelerators for high-intensive neutron generators and accelerator-driven systems are discussed. The main technical characteristics of the projects on neutron generators based on linear accelerators are presented. These projects are developed in USA, Japan, Italy and Russia. The RFQ structures are used in all projects for the initial acceleration of protons up to 5-7 MeV. The different modifications of drift tubes are applied for acceleration up to 100 MeV. The main acceleration (up to 1 GeV) is supposed to perform in superconducting resonators

Abstract (Russian)

Обсуждаются перспективы создания сверхмощных линейных ускорителей протонов для высокоинтенсивных нейтронных генераторов и электроядерных установок. Представлены основные технические параметры проектов нейтронных генераторов на основе сильноточного линейного ускорителя, разработка которых проводится в США, Японии, Италии и России. Во всех проектах для начального ускорения протонов до энергии 5-7 МэВ используются структуры RFQ, а различные модификации с трубками дрейфа применяются для ускорения до 100 МэВ. Основное ускорение (до 1 ГэВ) предполагается вести в сверхпроводящих резонаторах
