Comparison of biological effects of radiation and chemical factors on the basis of rad-equivalent
Description
To determine the value of the rad-equivalents of chemical pollutants the dose-effect relationship is studied taking into account radiation and non-radiation factors and their joint effect. The animals (rats) were exposed to genotoxic factors for three month by three patterns: prolonged daily exposure to gamma radiation; daily intragastric intake of nitrosomethylurea (NMU) or pesticide, joint influence of these factors. the comparison of genotoxic effects for the studied chemical substances and radiation at the same conditions have shown that prolonged intake of 1 Mg of NMU and 1 mg of pesticide are equivalent by genotoxic effect of 4-7 cGy and 0.5-0.7 c Gy respectively. When radiation and pesticide influence jointly, the genotoxic effect of radiation is increased
