Effect of purity, prestrain, and cooling rate on hydrogen strengthening in niobium single crystals

Description

Hydrogen strengthening of niobium at approximately 770K depends on purity, prestrain at 2950K and cooling rate from 2950K. Increasing purity, prestrain and decreasing cooling rate reduce hydrogen strengthening. High purity alloys exhibit hydride softening, a decrease in flow stress with increasing hydrogen content
