Photometry of faint blue stars

Creators

  • 1. Saint Andrews Univ. (UK). Observatory

Description

Hβ photometry is given for 49 stars and combined with published uvby data to derive metallicity and luminosity parameters for the A-F stars and a temperature parameter for the B stars. The A-F stars are somewhat evolved relative to the ZAMS and slightly metal-poor relative to the Hyades. Distance determinations for the apparently normal stars show a few B stars to be more than 1 kpc from the galactic plane. Comments are made on the colour indices of the subluminous and peculiar objects. (author)
