Description
Nitric oxide, NO, and nitrogen dioxide NO/sub 2/, collectively represented as NO/sub x/ are known to be among the most important air pollutants. In this study NO/sub 2/, has been measured by Satzman's method in Rawalpindi-Islamabad area. This method is based on collection of NO/sub 2/ in a fitted bubbler containing absorbing reagent and subsequently measuring the absorbance of violet - red colour spectrophotometrically. The maximum ambient concentration of NO/sub 2/ in Satellite Town, Rawalpindi on 4 hourly average basis was 47 Mg/m3 between 18:00-22.00 hours, whereas 24 hourly average was found to be 30 mu g/m/sub 3/. NO/sub 2/ concentration at different points along Murree Road have also been reported. (author)
