This document presents comments prepared by the French delegation upon INFCE/DEP./WG-4/72. The necessity of optimising the total detriment in respect of the ALARA concept is indicated. The possible conflict between reducing general public radiation exposure at the expense of some increase of occupational exposure, e.g. Kr85 storage, is noted
