Method and device for protecting the vicinity of nuclear power plants in case of core meltdown accidents

Description
To increase safety, the bottom and the side panels of the reactor containment vessel approachable by the core melt are lined with heat-resistant material. The most suitable material would be a tamping material or moulded bricks of magnesite and/or borax resp. dolomite. In addition a packing of ceramic or glass filling material can be provided. For pressure relief of the containment, ceramic air filters are provided. (DG)

Zur Erhoehung der Sicherheit werden der Boden und die von einer Kernschmelze erreichbaren Seitenteile des Reaktorsicherheitsbehaelters mittels hitzebestaendigem Material ausgekleidet. Als geeingetes Material werden eine Stampfmasse oder Formsteine aus Magnesit und/oder Borax bzw. Dolomit angesehen. Zusaetzlich kann eine Schuettung mit Fuellkoerpern aus Keramik oder Glas vorgesehen sein. Zusaetzlich sind zur Druckentlastung des Sicherheitsbehaelters keramische Luftfilter vorgesehen. (DG)Files
