LD end-pumped 1.11 μm laser of Nd:GGG crystal
- 1. State Key Laboratory of Crystal Materials and Institute of Crystal Materials, Shandong University, Jinan 250100 (China)
Description
In this paper, we demonstrated an efficient laser-diode (LD) end-pumped continuous-wave (CW) Nd:Gd3Ga5O12 (Nd:GGG) crystal laser operating at 1.11 μm. When the incident pump power was 13.32 W, a maximum output power of 1.41 W was achieved, giving an optical conversion efficiency of 10.6%. The output spectrum contained two components, 1105.6 and 1110.4 nm. Considering the excellent thermal and optical properties of Nd:GGG crystal, we believe that such laser can be used as a generating source of ∼ 555 nm human eye sensitive yellow-green radiation by frequency up-conversion, or 1.2 THz radiation by difference frequency generation (DFG)
