Intravenous elimination and percutaneous absorption of topically applied thioguanine-14c (nsc-752) in yorkshire white pigs. Final report, 22 June-14 October 1977

Description

The distribution and elimination of intravenously administered Thioguanine-14C (NSC-752) was studied in female, weanling, Yorkshire, white pigs. Approximately one-half the radioactivity was eliminated in the urine in the first six hours, and the majority was eliminated by the end of the 24 hours after intravenous administration. After 96 hours (4 days) an average of 84% was eliminated via the urine. This elimination percentage was then utilized to determine the amount of Thioguanine-14C absorbed after topical application. Among the whole organs sampled, kidney, liver and spleen had the highest specific activities of radioactivity. Intestine and bone marrow samples had the highest specific activity levels of the random tissues sampled. The absorption of the Thioguanine-14C after topical application was minimal with approximately 0.77% of the administered dose being absorbed at the end of 192 hours (8 days). Significant levels of radioactivity were also detected in skin surrounding the site of application
