Measurements of the basal plane anisotropy energy of terbium at low temperatures

  • 1. Salford Univ. (UK)

Description

Measurements have been made of the basal plane anisotropy energy of terbium between 17.4 and 201.4 K in magnetic fields up to 4 T using a rotating sample magnetometer. The values found for K66 are larger than existing data at low temperatures and are in good agreement with the temperature variation predicted for anisotropy of single-ion origin. (Auth.)
