Description
Mobility of iron atoms in iron and in aluminium under conditions of rapid plastic deformation (5x10-3 sec-1) produced by pulse magnetic field at room temperature has been studied. The studies employed autoradiography with the help of 55Fe and 59Fe isotopes. The curves of concentration distribution of radioactive iron in iron and aluminium show that under conditions of plastic deformation radioactive iron deeply penetrates into both Fe and Al, the mass transfer coefficients being 15.0+-3.0 and 30.0+-4.0 cm2/sec respectively. It is assumed that the major contribution to mass transfer is given by interstitial atoms
