Preparation and electrical properties of (LaO)AgS and (LnO)CuS (Ln = La,Pr, or Nd)

Description
This paper reports on a layered compound (LaO)AgS, obtained from La2O2S and Cu2S in vacuo at 853-1373 K. The ac, ionic, and electronic conductivities and the thermoelectromotive forces of the products were measured under a purified helium gas atmosphere at 300-573 K and at 77.4-700 K, respectively. The compound (LaO)AgS was an n-type mixed ionic conductor, whereas (LaO)CuS and (PrO)CuS were an electronic p-type semiconductor. A conduction mechanism was proposed for (LaO)AgS and (LaO)CuS
