The determination of the average values of neutrals and the total number of prongs in 40 GeV/c π--N inelastic collisions as a function of the missing momentum (mm)
Description
Assuming the approximate equality of the longitudinal momentum components of the charged and the neutral particles a simple method is demonstrated to obtain the mean values of neutrals and that of the total number of prongs as a function of multiplicity or a given type of interaction using the mean value of the missing momentum of charged particles. To test the validity of the assumption the experimental data from the 2m propane bubble chamber exposed to a 40 GeV/c PI--meson beam at Serpukhov are analysed. (Sz.Z.)
