Deformation enhanced precipitation of cobalt-tungsten carbide in annealed WC-Co
Description
Electron microscopy of annealed, indented samples of WC-Co display the formation of a mixed carbide, probably eta- Co3W3C, exclusively in the deformed region. Preceding the growth of eta carbide is a structural transformation in the WC. A mechanism based on a variables stacking fault energy in WC is discussed
