Radiation in thermonuclear regime

Description

Processes to be considered in addition to the irreducible electron-(D or T) ion bremsstrahlung are line radiation from incompletely stripped impurity ions, recombination radiation and bremsstrahlung on these ions and higher harmonics of the electron cyclotron radiation. The impurity radiation processes depend strongly on the charge state of the ions which is, besides by transport, usually controlled by electron impact ionization and electron capture with excitation (dielectronic recombination). Rate coefficients for these processes and for electron impact excitation of line radiation are estimated and basic formulas for bremsstrahlung, recombination radiation, and cyclotron harmonic emission are reviewed. Comparison is made with rate coefficients used in calculations of impurity radiation from plasmas for which corona equilibrium can be assumed
