Water chemistry of PWR primary coolant for minimizing radiation dose rate

  • 1. Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., Osaka (Japan)

Description

As a part of the countermeasures for radiation exposure reduction in nuclear power plants, the water chemistry control was investigated. Solubility of nickel ferrite was measured at the coolant chemistry condition of power operation and shutdown. Based upon the results, pH control and shutdown chemistry which are considered to be effective for the reduction of radiation level were discussed. Also for a part of them, the effect was confirmed with actual plants. (author)
