High-temperature transducer of a pulsed NMR spectrometer

Description

A single-coil transducer for a NMR spectrometer is described. The transducer makes it possible to measure spin-spin and spin-lattice relaxations of protons in the hydrides of transition and rare-earth metals in the temperature range from -160 to +630 deg C. The proposed transducer contains two variable capacitors: a high-voltage capacitor with a low quality factor in the transmitting circuit and a capacitor with high-voltage dielectric coating of plates in the receiving circuit. Coupling coil L2 is inductively connected with transmitting coil L3. Coils L2 and L3 have 10 and 3 turns correspondingly and use a wire 0.96 mm in diameter wound on a ceramic frame 10 mm in diameter. Coils with a sample L1 have 24 turns of copper wire 0.41 mm in diameter wound on a glass tube with a diameter of 10 mm. The winding length is 20 mm. The transducer has been tested together with the receiving system of a pulse NMR spectrometer. The total time of transducer insensitivity at a frequency of 16 MHz is less than 5 μs
