Modulation characteristics of a Forbush effect

  • 1. Moskovskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR). Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Yadernoj Fiziki

Description

Modulation characteristics of Forbush effects are under study: the flare Forbush effect on February 16-19, 1967 and quasi-stationary effect on April 5-9, 1968. The Forbush decrease is assumed to be conditioned by the cosmic ray (CR) transfer along with strength lines of the interplanetary magnetic field directed from the Sun with the velocity proportional to the plasma velocity (Vsub(p)). The hypothesis of the magnetized plasma flux (or ejection) transparency effect on the CR flux directed to the Sun is also used. Some relationships approximating sufficiently well the CR intensity are also obtained. It is shown that taking account of considerable Vsub(p) variation must lead to the change of existing models, which suggest only temporary character of the CR intensity growth after the Forbush decrease minimum
