Description

The new compound bis(triphenylphosphine)iminium hexafluorouranate(V), (PPN)(UF6), has been synthesized and characterized. The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrum of a polycrystalline specimen at 1000K exhibited an unusual non-axial g-tensor. A single crystal X-ray study has shown the structure of (PPN)(UF6) at room temperature to be triclinic with little crystallographically significant distortion of the UF6- octahedron. The average U-F distance is 2.03(2) A. The unusual EPR spectrum thus may be attributed to low site symmetry and/or very small distortions of the UF6- octahedron. Crystal data are reported. (author)
